Why are we so afraid of clowns? Is there a particular thing about clowns that makes us fear them? Are clowns really that creepy and scary?
When we think of what clown scared us the most, the creepiest creation could well be Pennywise, something we saw in the 1990 movie, “It.” In terms of appearance there is no doubt that American Horror Story’s Twisty the Clown was a character you wouldn’t want to meet on a dark night. Then we have clowns that might not have been too scary, but they certainly left the circus and entered the dark side of life. The Simpson’s Krusty was one of those, as was Batman’s nemesis, The Joker. In real life the indisputable bad clown was Pogo, a creation of serial killer John Wayne Gacy. But why do clowns give us the shivers so much? That’s what we’ll find out today, in this episode of the Infographics Show, Why Are We Afraid of Clowns?
