Valentine’s Day has always been geared toward females with males footing the increasing “bill” of the holiday. Men rarely receive or expect to receive any gifts or special forms of appreciation because most purchasing and gift-giving is by men and for women. Men want a day in which they are the center of attention and the women in their lives are the ones to spend time to make them feel special. Asian countries have had a second day to address the inequality of Valentine’s Day for more than 30 years.
